I don’t know why I’ve been baking so much lately, meaning 3 times in the past 3 weeks. This equates to about a 2000% increase from this time last year. It might be my addiction to Gourmet’s recipes. I enjoy the simplicity of the dessert recipes and wondered if the Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies intersected brainless baking and deliciousness at the same level as the Flourless Chocolate Cake. After browsing through blogs like bakin’ and eggs, I pretty much expected a straight forward recipe with great results.

My takeaway: make sure you have vanilla extract on hand. Yikes. Oh, and use a deep mixing bowl. Or you’ll end up with splattered batter and a work area like this:
Overall, I think this is a decent recipe and probably a crowd pleaser. In the future, I’ll probably stick with the recipe on the back of the bag of chocolate chips. But . . .
