I have a coworker, who claims that making hummus is better than the stuff that they sell in the containers in the grocery store. I’ve always been like, why bother? Peanut butter is also sold in containers and personally, I believe PB is awesome when commercially processed. Making it yourself I’m sure is rewarding, but psh, give me the processed stuff.

But I relented and decided to give the hummus a try. My consensus? If you don’t make your own hummus, start now. It’s rewarding. And it’s good.

But I will continue reaching for the Skippy’s. (Why fix something that’s not broken?)

In case you don’t want to watch the video, here’s the recipe –

Hummus with Sun Dried Tomato

2 garlic cloves
4 cups of chickpeas
1 cup water
1/2 cup of tahini
1/2 cup  of olive oil
juice of 2 limes
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup of chopped sun-dried tomatoes with olive oil (add the olive oil too!)

Place garlic in food processor. Blend until all is chopped. Add chickpeas and water. Process until all is blended. Add tahini and olive oil – blend everything together until smooth.

Take chickpea mixture and place into a bowl. Add lime juice, salt and pepper. Stir with a spatula. Add sun dried tomatoes and stir.
